Kuala Kubu Bharu, 13th November 2010 - A group of
trekkers who participated in the :kuala kubu bharu leisure trek: advertised on
Facebook found themselves lost in the jungle after the group lead,Mr.
Mahadevan, made a wrong turn.
Trekkers Vinod Kumar, Ajay,Guna, Mastura, Raihana,
Khairol, Fauze, Parthiban, Dharma, Sathia Kumaran, Tarun from India and
Mahadevan were going to trek the jungles of Kuala Kubu Bharu to reach the
Sungai Chilling waterfalls when Mahadevan took a wrong turn and got the group
to cross the river about 200m from the original trek crossing. Only after
crossing the river the group realised there isn't a trail and they were lost.
Sensing something amiss, Mahadevan volunteered to go
back and check the trail again and saw that there was actually a trail. He went
back to call the group who had to cross the river back and follow the newfound
trail which kept leading uphill.
Trekkers taking a break

The uphill trail was challenging with
slippery tracks and fallen bamboos obstructing the way, and the trekkers got a
little exhausted. They took a 5 minute break and regrouped and considered their
options. Parthiban suggested that the trail is indeed a wrong one and they
should all return to the river.
Upon hearing this, all the trekkers were
sporting enough and helped each other to navigate the terrain, although most of
them have only met each other that morning. Spirits were high as everyone
slowly made their way back to the river, and encountered another group of
Chinese trekkers who was also lost! Everyone decided to follow the river and
find the trail.
..after walking on the stones along the river.
And find the trail they did, with much relief
on the faces.
The terrain after the 'lost track ' was smooth and they were in the magnificent waterfalls of Sg. Chilling a little after 45 minutes of trek. The freshwater was freezing cold and the fishes swimming around made it a worthwhile effort.

Vinod Kumar, Ajay, Guna and Fauze had to
head home earlier so the rest bid them farewell and headed to a Nasi Kandar
shop to have lunch and recharge before the drive back to KL.
All in all, it was amazing to see the
spirit of camaraderie in the trekkers whom all helped each other during all
phases of the trek and it was good fun 'getting lost' too.
